I’m not sure why I find this amusing at all, but for those of you who shop on Amazon.com and are annoyed that your purchase falls just short of their $25 free shipping minimum, this Amazon Filler Item Finder is for you! I’m currently abusing a free trial of Amazon Prime, but this may come in handy in the future.
Photos from yesterday’s baby shower are now up. Check ‘em out!
As if this movie needed any more promotion, they’ve teamed up with Google to unleash a series of 24 daily interactive puzzles. The first two puzzles have driven me to the official movie website to dig up the name of specific symbols that the puzzles reveal. That’s a nice way to motivate folks to explore the site. But what’s up with the uber-heavy Flash content?
Too many sites these days are getting away from delivering a streamlined user experience. I’ve got browsing ADD so it’s annnoying as hell to sit around waiting for something to load on a T1 only to find something marginally more interactive than a static HTML page. Kudos on the promo, thumbs down on the website design.
First off, there was this hot, burning thing up in the sky today. It was detracting from all the blue stuff in the sky. Very disturbing. No better way to enjoy it all by making a trip over to PacBell, er SBC, er AT&T…aw, screw it…SPC Park. That’s Some Phone Company Park.
So I had a…uh…um…lunch meeting at the Giants game using some nice seats behind home plate. It happened to be my first time inside the ballpark. I’ve walked by numerous times, hung out in the parking lot for some Cirque du Soleil action, but never made it inside. It’s definitely a nice park especially on a nice, sunny day.
Got to see the home crowd come alive every time Bonds was at the plate. And got to see him smack two balls to the warning track. I overheard some guys joking that now that he’s off the juice, that’s as far as he can hit them. Too funny.
Here are some blurry 1MP photos from my new a920:
AT&T Park
Barry crowding the plate, getting ready to hit one a few feet short of a homer
It was a bad, bad day for the Discovery boys at the 2006 edition of Paris-Roubaix. Probably the biggest hit was Hincapie’s freak accident when his steerer tube somehow managed to snap, removing his handlebars and sending him to the ground. The poor guy gets dealt a fracture somewhere in his shoulder and leaves this evidence behind for Trek to mull over (you know someone is getting sacked over this one…):

If that wasn’t bad enough, UCI officials totally shaft Hoste, Van Petegem, and Gusev who crossed the line in second, third, and fourth. Yes, they did cross a train crossing when the barriers were down. Fine. If you are going to DQ them, then the next chasing trio of Boonen, Ballan, and Flecha have to be DQ’d for the same damn thing. Whether or not the train had passed or not is completely irrelevant since there is no provision for riders to make that call. I guess it pays to be the world champ because it gets you special treatment from UCI. Even Boonen is saying that he still feels that he finished fifth, not second.
GG to the course designer to send the race through a train crossing with 10k to go.
We clearly picked the wrong shirt to do this photo series with…it doesn’t look like it can handle much more.
Oops, forgot to take last week’s photo on time…but here it is anyway! It also happens to be the first shot from my new Canon PowerShot SD600.
